Christopher Ward C70 D-Type Limited Edition
Following the success of 2009’s original C70 Grand Prix series of eight watches, Christopher Ward embarked on a number of stand-alone C70 Specials. They included the GB and DBR1 COSC models in 2010 and 2011, then came 2013’s BRG, 2014’s VW4 COSC and then a couple of Art Metal specials: the DBR1/2 AM100 from 2013 and the 3527 GT from 2014.
The C70 D-Type is the 15th of 21 (or 22 in you include the 2016 F1 Racing magazine special, of which there are 20!) motorsport C70s Christopher Ward produced - the last one being the BRG COSC from 2017.
The C70 D-Type takes inspiration from the Ecurie Ecosse D-Type Jaguars which won the 1956 and 1957 Le Mans 24-hour races - the red segment on the bottom dial echoing that of the D-Type’s rev counter, among other influences. It was launched in August 2014 and the 500 pieces were sold out in 2015. It’s definitely one of the more desirable C70 models - probably sitting just behind the DBR1s and Art Metal specials on the collector’s scale. The watch I’m selling here was a September 2014 purchase.
Strap Options

Condition:
The initial impression you get when you open the case is that it’s a new watch. It’s only when you get in close you notice there are light signs of use.
If you’re familiar with C70s, you’ll know their exposed aluminium bezel has a reputation for getting fairly easily marked. This watch is coming up for eight years old, but I’d say the bezel is in remarkably good condition, with just a couple of very minor blemishes to report.
The polished areas on the case have a few light blemishes from use, which could easily be removed with a bit of Cape Cod time. There are also a couple of light scratches (only visible in certain lights) plus evidence of a battery change on the case back.
It’s a full set, box and papers including original owner’s manual with Certificate of Authenticity and an unused polishing cloth.

Final Notes:
The first picture is a library photo, the rest show the actual watch and package.
CW don’t have a PDF of the specific D-Type User Guide on their website, but they do have the original GP series, which used the same movement (the D-Type is a tad taller than the originals thanks to the deep-stamped case back): https://www.christopherward.com/on/demandware.static/-/Library-Sites-cw-library/default/dwa255857f/pdfs/Motorsport/c70_manual.pdf
