Warranty And Returns
Watches under five years old
Any watch sold which is still within the Christopher Ward 5-year movement warranty period would be covered by Christopher Ward until its expiry date. So in the unlikely event of a movement malfunction (which isn’t the result of user error or abuse) the watch would need to be returned to Christopher Ward for evaluation. If the issue is confirmed to be the result of a manufacturing fault, they will repair it and return it to you for free. If the fault is deemed to be a result of user error, they’ll provide a repair quote.
Watches over five years old and those with no warranty card
In the unlikely event of a watch developing a movement fault within your first 90 days of ownership, please return the watch to me and I’ll arrange and pay for a repair. I would only need the watch head (with or without strap) safely returning to me - I wouldn’t need the full case unless you want to use the box.
As with the Christopher Ward warranty, faults which have occurred as a result of user error are not covered. Straps and bracelets are not covered by any warranty.
WATER RESISTANCE
We offer no guarantee that the watch will maintain water resistance. We recommend that if you wish to immerse it in water, you test it regularly.
TIME-KEEPING
CW promises their brand new mechanical watches will keep within +/-20sec per day, unless it’s COSC certified, in which case the tolerances are a lot tighter.
For the used mechanical watches I sell which aren’t covered by the CW warranty, I’ll guarantee they’re accurate to +/-30 sec over 24h. That’s just a ‘worst case’ scenario though - most will be far closer to zero than 60!
Returns
Christopher Ward breaks down its selling prices as one third manufacturing costs, one third business overheads and one third profit. That model allows them some room to ship watches to potential customers just to take a look and then also pay for the return shipping cost if the customer doesn’t love what he/she sees… My purchase costs are FAR higher than 33% of the selling price, so I’m unable to offer a similar level of customer service I’m afraid.
If there’s a watch that’s caught your eye and you fancy a look at it, but you know there’s a good chance you’ll be sending it back, I’d ask you not to buy it please - just to save us both wasting time and to reduce the risks of damage or loss in transit…
…that said, if you’ve bought a watch in good faith but it arrives and you’re just not feeling it, then no problem. As long as the watch is returned in exactly the same condition as it was shipped (so for 100% as new, not worn watches, that means still 100% new and never worn) and it’s returned within 14 days of purchase, then I’ll be happy to provide a refund of the watch purchase price (excludes shipping and card processing fee). Once safely received and verified, returned watch purchases will be refunded within five working days - usually much faster. Please note payment card companies can take between one and ten days to credit the money back to your account. The Ward Hoard has no control over how long your card provider takes to apply the credit.
