Christopher Ward C60 Sapphire Prototype Orange

Introduction

This is not just any C60 Sapphire…

Christopher Ward has a history of innovation and generally shaking things up. From 2005’s C5 auto with its ETA 2824 movement at an unprecedented price, to the striking C70 face designs starting in 2009, to the first JJ modified calibre in 2011, to having the ‘audacity’ to create their own 120h power reserve SH21 movement in 2014 - they certainly can’t be accused of always just playing it safe. And the C60 Sapphire is a perfect example of CW rolling the dice - and in this case, coming up with a double six!

Launched in April 2020, C60 Sapphire was based on the then all new 40mm Mk3 C60 Trident and came with blue translucent face and case back to show off its Sellita automatic heart - it was an instant sales hit, paving the way for orange and black face versions and more recently a Sapphire version of the new C63.

It takes 40 separate processes to make the see-through sapphire dial, backed by a film of coloured polycarbonate (or PVD smoke effect for the black dial), of the C60 Sapphire. This procedure delivers a material that is not only beautiful and scratch-resistant but also incredibly thin (0.6 mm thickness).

However, only blue and black are now available - the orange production run is no longer available.

And this one is something special. It is different from the main production Sapphire orange:

1) It has an opaque dial rather than being translucent - the forerunner to the extremely successful Sunrise;

2) It has skeletonised hands;

3) Why? well the cherry on top, a full lume dial (see the last pictures) - it is stunning.

Warranty

The warranty card is dated July 2021, so it is covered under CW’s transferrable warranty to July 2026.

Strap options

It is fitted with a CW bracelet in great condition with all links.

Priced with this strap - other options are:

• Exchange for a brand new CW strap - hybrid, tide or leather: discount of £80.

• Without a strap: discount of £125.

Excellent condition - nothing of note to mention.

It’s keeping good time at approx. - 7 sec per day.

Supplied in original CW Bamboo box with manual, unused cleaning cloth and warranty booklet and card.
