CHRISTOPHER WARD C60 ABYSS Shadow Limited Edition SH21 COSC

Introduction

For several years the top of the C60 tree was the Apex model. At £3,500, it was the most expensive watch Christopher Ward had ever made, but that didn’t stop all 100 pieces selling out quickly.

Now imagine taking the C60 Apex, switching the face from machined metal to tinted Sapphire, turning everything black and then putting it up for sale at almost half the price of an Apex - that’s what CW did with the Abyss SH21!!

And then they took it a stage further with the Shadow.

Introduced in January 2023, the 42mm C60 Shadow Special Edition is limited to 28 pieces.

It's got a stunning matt grey dial making the whole package that little bit more legible.

It’s powered by that same automatic, self-winding version of CW’s famous 120 hour reserve, in-house, COSC-certified, SH21 movement. The 9 o’clock sub dial gives you the current power reserve status and the 6 o’clock sub dial dial displays the seconds.

At 16.35mm high it’s a relatively tall watch, but the dark colours and the ‘light catcher’ case design do their best to disguise it.

You get a fantastic view of the rotor, double mainspring barrels and other workings through the huge exhibition case back.

These don't come up often at all, grab it while you can.

Warranty

It’s an April 2023 watch, so the transferable manufacturer movement warranty is valid until April 2028.

Condition

It’s been worn once - it is still in perfect condition. You wouldn't be able to tell it was used.

On the timegrapher it’s registering very good timing at +4sec per day.

Offered in the original CW bamboo case including warranty booklet and card and polishing cloth. COSC certificate and owner's manual are missing but the latter can be found online.

Strap

It comes with both a brand new bracelet and a black/red hybrid (worn once).
