Christopher Ward C60 Mk2 Trident Pro 600 316L Yellow Limited Edition
Christopher Ward has created five different 316L Limited Edition models over the years. They started in May 2017 when the C60 316L Orange was the first C60 to feature an all 316L stainless steel bezel (the same grade of steel the cases are made from). It was also the first C60 to feature the ‘flat’ face which is now common to all Mk3 C60s - until the C60 316L arrived, all C60 Mk1 and Mk2 models had subtle waves on their dials.
Once the 316x Orange models had sold out, CW dropped the blue version in October ‘17, the yellow version arrived in April ‘18 and the Black version in Jan ‘19. In August 2019 CW launched the C65 Trident Diver 316L yellow, which signalled the last of the 316L line - for now at least.
One very nice feature of the C60 616L cases is that they all feature the nice polished bevel detail along the outer edges, which contrasts nicely against the rest of the brushed case. That feature was first seen on the 7750 ‘Beast’ Chronograph which was introduced in 2016.
The watch for sale in this listing is a May 2018 piece, so the CW Warranty is just about up - so it will come with a 90 day Ward Hoard movement warranty.
Strap
It comes on an aftermarket soft silicone rubber strap with yellow stitching and quick release spring bars. The buyer will also have the option to buy two original CW straps:
1) An original and brand new soft-touch leather strap with yellow stitching and yellow lining. CW ran out of these straps years ago and they’re almost impossible to come by in any condition, let alone brand new! This would cost an additional £145.
2) Anorak fact: C60 316Ls were the only Mk2 C60 to come with an all brushed bracelet (99% of Mk2 bracelets had polished centre links). CW sold out of original polished and brush Mk2 bracelets years ago, so like the leather option, it’s extremely rare to find a brand new fully brushed Mk2 bracelet become available. This bracelet (which happen to have no icon on the clasp) would cost an additional £195.
If you wanted a Mk3 style bracelet to fit a Mk2 C60, CW have them available for £185 here.
Condition
This watch is in fantastic condition. On initial inspection I thought it was as new and struggled to find any marks, before finally spotting a tiny blemish at the top of the left side on the case, in line with the 44 minute marker. Note it is a used watch, so you may find other signs of use under magnified inspection.
It’s fitted with a CW Hybrid rubber strap which looked a bit grubby on the inside when I saw the pics, so I’ve given that a clean since the photos were taken (note to self: clean watches before you photograph them next time!).
This is a ‘full set’ box and papers watch. Supplied with user manual (including Certificate of Authenticity), unused polishing cloth, covering letter and original purchase invoice showing £750 paid.
The watch is in perfect working order and the timegrapher indicates it’s keeping perfect time - who says you need a COSC certified model for maximum accuracy?!
