Christopher Ward Archive Find C60 Trident-Pro COSC 43mm
The Mk1 C60 Trident hit the watch world in 2009. It was available in a Henry Ford style ‘any colour you want, as long as it’s black’. The initial price of just £300 was a ridiculous bargain and the watch was an instant hit. Fast forward to 2012, CW introduced the CHR. WARD logo and also added blue, red and green models to the lineup. The base price had gone up to £440 for a rubber/leather model and £510 on the bracelet - still a pretty good deal.
Also in 2012 CW dipped their toe into C60 Chronometer water with the launch of their first ever COSC-certified Trident: the C60 Trident-Pro COSC. It was visually very similar to the regular model, but hawk-eyes will notice the ‘TRIDENT-PRO” on the face was switched with ‘CHRONOMETER’ as a nod to it’s COSC certified Chronometer credentials.
With a retail price of £675 on rubber/leather and £735 on a bracelet, it was quite a premium over the basic model and sales were pretty slow - taking some two years to sell all 500 limited edition pieces. But with the passage of time has come a greater appreciation for this, the first ever Limited Edition C60. It’s now a pretty collectable piece for those in the know.
This particular watch is a CW ‘Archive Find’ having surfaced in July 2018 - several years after it had sold out. It was originally bought by one of the Moderators on the Christopher Ward Chat Forum and I can pretty confidently say this will be the youngest one you’ll find by some margin.
Being an archive find, CW had long run out of the deluxe wooden boxes with engraved plaques that these originally came with - so this watch was instead supplied in the plain black 2018 box of the time. However, I happen to have a 2015 C60 Trident-Pro COSC in my collection which does have the correct box, so to make a ‘best of both’, I’ve stolen the deluxe case from the 2015 and put this watch in it!
Condition
It’s in extremely good used condition. It has been worn, so there are a few light blemishes here and there, but nothing worthy of specific mention - apart from maybe the couple of obvious scratches on the bracelet clasp. It’s fitted with a C60 Mk2 bracelet (as per 2018), so you get the user-friendly ratchet style micro adjustment. Two links have been removed from the bracelet, but only one is included.
Supplied in the correct original deluxe case along with Certificate of Authenticity, unused polishing cloth and covering letters, one of which directs you the the CW website were the correct PDF isn’t actually available! I’ve put a link to the standard manual below. Also included is the COSC certificate which has been signed by Chris Ward himself - a very nice touch for a very nice collector’s CW watch.
