WH586 C60 Trident Pro COSC 43mm Limited Edition (10/2013)
WH586 C60 Trident Pro COSC 43mm Limited Edition (10/2013)
Christopher Ward C60 Trident-Pro COSC 43mm
Introduction
The Mk1 C60 Trident hit the watch world in 2009. It was available in a Henry Ford style ‘any colour you want, as long as it’s black’. The initial price of just £300 was a ridiculous bargain and the watch was an instant hit. Fast forward to 2012, CW introduced the CHR. WARD logo and also added blue, red and green models to the lineup. The base price had gone up to £440 for a rubber/leather model and £510 on the bracelet - still a pretty good deal.
Also in 2012 (September) CW dipped their toe into C60 Chronometer water for the first time with the launch of the C60 Trident-Pro COSC. It was visually very similar to the regular model, but hawk-eyes will notice the ‘TRIDENT-PRO” on the face was switched with ‘CHRONOMETER’ as a nod to its COSC certified Chronometer credentials.
With a retail price of £675 on rubber/leather and £735 on a bracelet, it was quite a premium over the basic model and sales were pretty slow - it took until 2015 to sell all 500 limited edition pieces. But with the passage of time has come a greater appreciation for this, the first ever Limited Edition C60. It is now a pretty collectable piece for those in the know.
In Feb. 2015 it was discovered that several units had the Sellita SW200-1 COSC installed instead of the initially advertised ETA movement. Customers were contacted and movements replaced if requested. A free service was also offered to those affected. As a result it is not known how many models exist with ETA or Sellita movements. Movements are equal and replacements were done because the ETA was the advertised movement at point of sale. I don’t know which one this is!
Warranty
It comes with a three month Ward Hoard warranty.
Strap
It is fitted with a CW bracelet in great condition with spare links. Note this is the earlier version (of that era) with pin micro adjustment rather than the newer ratchet adjustment.
Price includes this strap - other options are:
Exchange for a brand new CW leather, hybrid or tide strap instead: discount of £50
Head only: discount of £80.
Exchange for a CW ratchet bracelet: increase of £40.
Condition
It has spent most of its life in its box. It is in fabulous condition - can’t see a mark on it.
It comes boxed with user guide/Certificate of Authenticity and polishing cloth, COSC certificate and covering letter. It’s keeping perfect time, at +-0 sec per day on the timegrapher.
In summary, it’s a nice, collectable and very wearable limited edition C60 in superb condition. You won’t see a better example.
