Christopher Ward C5 Malvern 595 Gold
Christopher Ward’s first ever watch, the C5 Malvern automatic, was launched with a gold-plated finish. In the early days of CW gold was an option on most models including the C3, C1 Russell, C4 (pretty out there for a sport watch!), C13 and C15, but as time went on, CW started using the precious metal less and less.
After a few years of no gold watches it popped up on the C65 Mk2 Classic and then again in 2018 this C5 595 was the first time it’s been used in several years. So what’s offered here is the last watch which CW made available in gold.
I never appreciated how remarkable the Malvern 595 really is until I first held one in my hands. At just 5.95mm high, it’s the slimmest watch Christopher Ward watch has ever produced by over 2mm (the previous thinnest being the 8.25mm C5 Slimline Square). It’s pretty unusual to have a watch where the head is the same thickness as the strap!
It’s a sleek, classic, and (obviously) very slim dress watch which at 39mm diameter screams subtlety and class in equal quantities.
No longer available from Christopher Ward (when it was, it cost £595 on a leather strap), the C5 Malvern 595 was launched in Jan 2018 and was retired at the end of 2019 - with the last few pieces being sold in a brief 2020 release plus a couple popping up in Jan 2021. This is a July 2020 piece. With the 60 month Christopher Ward movement warranty being transferrable, it’s covered to July 2024 (or July 2025 if serviced by CW between 36-48 months old).
I have one other gold 595 available which is a Jan 2021 example in brand new condition - available at £600.
Strap:
Fitted with the original CW Italian tan leather strap which has quick-release spring bars.

Supplied in CW presentation case with book and all papers.
The watch head appears to be in pristine condition - I can’t see a mark on it. But being a used watch, you may find signs of use under magnified inspection.
The strap is in fantastic condition with just minor signs of use
