CHRISTOPHER WARD C5 MALVERN AUTOMATIC MK3
The first rule of Christopher Ward Anorak Club is to know the C5 Malvern Automatic was their first watch and the one that put them on the map!
The 38mm C5 Malvern Mk1 had a great run and was available between 2005 and 2012. The Mk2 went up to 39mm and filled the period between 2012 and 2016. The Mk3 stayed at 39mm and was launched in 2017 at a cost of £500 for the leather and £580 on the bracelet before being retired in mid 2020.
The watch for sale here is the third iteration of that classic piece, without which the CW story might have been very different! CW hasn’t done a Mk4 version and I’ve not seen anything to suggest one is on the way, so this is certainly one of the last C5 Malvern Mk3s they ever sold and potentially one of the last ever C5s.
It features the ‘white’ face, which in the flesh has a metallic type finish with hints of ivory and silver. The polished, applied batons contrast perfectly with the blue hands.
The Mk3 case design is far more shapely than it’s slab-sided cousins, giving it quite a slimline look - it’s only 10mm tall, but looks even thanks to the case design.
It’s fitted with the original CW mesh bracelet which is suitable for wrists between approx. 17-20cm. If you need it longer, CW may have additional links available, but if you need it smaller, then a different strap would be your only choice.
If you’d prefer a leather strap, I can reduce the price by £50. Leather options include a black CW Tiber, a CW tan or a CW brown.
Condition
It’s in brand new, unworn condition - potentially one of the last ever C5 Malverns available in such a condition.
On the timegrapher it’s registering approx. +4 sec per day, so comfortably inside COSC specifications, despite not being a COSC certified watch.
Offered as a full set in its original bamboo case with owner’s book, warranty card and polishing cloth.
