Christopher Ward C8 Pilot Mk2
Christopher Ward has a long history of making aviation-inspired watches, starting with 2006’s C5 Malvern Aviator, which was based on CW’s first ever watch, the C5 Malvern. Their next aviator was… the C8, which was first introduced in 2008 and has only just been retired, when the last few C8 Power Reserves were sold in early 2021.
The watch for sale here is a C8 Pilot Mk2, but it’s a more unusual one because it features the original circular CW logo - most C8 Pilot Mk2s had the CHR. WARD logo which was introduced in 2012.
Condition:
It’s a May 2012 watch, so recently saw its ninth birthday. The head is in very good condition for a watch of that age - just a couple of light blemishes on the bezel at 10 and 23 minutes to report (they’re pretty obvious on the pics showing the marks zoomed to the size of a wall clock, but barely noticeable in the flesh), plus the usual signs of use you’ll find under magnified inspection.
It’s fitted with the original black riveted CW leather strap, which has quick-release spring bars and butterfly deployant clasp. It’s a very good quality strap so it has plenty of life left, but it’s also been well used. I’d score it 2.5 out of 5.
On the timegrapher it’s registering at +12 seconds per day, so comfortable inside the -10 to +20sec specified by CW when the watch was new.
It’s offered as a ‘full set’, including original inner and outer boxes, owner’s book with Certificate of Authenticity, covering letter and polishing cloth.
