Christopher Ward C65 Cranwell v1

Introduction

The ‘public’ military models started with a batch of C65s in 2019. They were the Dartmouth (named after the Royal Naval School), the Cranwell (named after the RAF College) and the Sandhurst (named after the The Royal Military Academy where army officers are trained).

In August 2020 CW added a fourth military model, the Lympstone. And in 2021 the Colchester joined the party (developed for and in conjunction with the British Army's Parachute Regiment).

Introduced in August 2019, the C65 Cranwell uses CW's 'light-catcher' case in 41mm. This larger space provides extra scope for the decoration of its backplate, where the Royal Air Force's iconic Heraldic badge takes pride of place.

The watch has a fixed brushed bezel, and the dial integrates a selection of aeronautical details. Conventional 12-hour numerals are replaced with minute numerals, bestowing a military feel. Old Radium has then been applied to indices every quarter hour and a triangle at 12 o'clock and white Super-LumiNova-coated numerals ensure excellent levels of night-time legibility.
