Christopher Ward C11 MSL Chronograph

The C11 is one of a few ‘square’ watches produced by Christopher Ward over the years - the others are the C13/C15 Henley from 2008 and a brief appearance from the C5 Malvern Slim Square in 2016/17.

The C11 Chronograph (quartz) for sale here is one of the two C11 launch models and is one of the first to wear the then ‘new’ CHR. WARD logo (the other C11 launch watch was the non-chrono automatic). The C11s arrived in 2011, were well received and started a long line of aviation and dive style C11 model variations. The chronograph model cost £400 for the PVD black version (£350 in silver) when it was available between 2011 and 2014 and the auto model cost £500/£450 at launch, rising £50 by the time of its retirement.

The silver models were the better sellers at the time, so the PVD model here is certainly one if the rarer C11s.

This particular watch was sold in 2012, making it just over a decade old at time of writing. These chronos have become pretty collectable over the years and are becoming increasing difficult to come by, especially in nice condition - so it’s not like there’s ever a selection to choose from!

Condition
The head is in great overall condition. It’s a used watch, so it has picked up a few light marks here and there over the years. The only one worthy of specific mention is a small scratch on the case back, clearly visible in the relevant photo.

In some of the photos, especially the one of the tang buckle, light reflecting along the edges looks like areas of worn through PVD plating revealing the steel below - that is not the case, it’s just reflections.

The strap is the original CW brown leather with quick release spring bars. The CW Sport buckle is very rare in having the full Christopher Ward logo rather then the far more common CHR. WARD. The strap shows more wear than the head and it’s had an extra hole made in the shortest position, but it still has plenty of life in it.

Supplied in its original inner and outer case including owner’s book (with Certificate of Authenticity) and unused polishing cloth. As can be seen in the pics, the box has some defects. Battery has just been replaced.
