Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 600 Mk3 42mm Black/Gold Prototype
May 2019 saw the arrival of the Mk3 C60 Trident - CW managing to upgrade and improve on their already best-selling model. The watch for sale in this listing is a Mk3, but not as we know it! It’s an original prototype featuring gold PDV plated centre links on the bracelet, a gold PDV crown plus gold batons and hands. To complete the look, the markers in the bezel are a creamy gold colour. To the best of my knowledge it’s a complete one-off - I’ve never seen another with a bracelet like this. The closest I have seen is one with a gold PVD case, but that wasn’t on a bracelet.
The guy I bought this watch from was doing some freelance work for Christopher Ward in 2019 and bought this one-off watch while he was working there.
If you’re not familiar with the Mk3 C60, it was introduced in mid 2019 as a the next progression of the best-selling Christopher Ward watch. The key updates from the previous model are the more sculpted sides to the case, giving it a more shallow appearance on the wrist and the move from a traditional to more contemporary hand design.
Technically, this watch is the same as the regular 42mm C60s available here for £845. So it has an automatic Sellita SW200-1 movement which gives 38 hours of power reserve. CW state its accuracy to be +/-20sec per day, but as you’ll read below, this one is far better.
Condition:
It’s a two-year-old used watch which has been worn on rotation as part of a large collection, so it’s not see much wrist time. The only blemishes I can see are some light marks to the case back and a few on the bracelet - plus the unavoidable desk-divers on the clasp which will brush out if you’re handy with a suitable pad.
Brand new C60s on bracelets come with six removable links, however this one only has four, so it’s suitable for wrists up to approx. 8in with the adjuster fully out. If you need it bigger, you’d have to obtain a couple of silver bracelet links from CW (they don’t have any stock of these silver/gold one-offs).
Supplied as a full set in the original bamboo case including owner’s book, warranty card and unused polishing cloth. It’s an August 2019 watch, so the CW movement warranty is valid until August 2023 - or August 2024 if you have it serviced by CW during its fourth year.
On the timegrapher it’s keeping time at approx. -2sec per day, which is comfortably inside COSC limits, despite it not being a COSC certified watch.
