CHRISTOPHER WARD C50 MALVERN COSC AUTOMATIC MKI
Introduction
Following the huge success of 2005’s C5 Malvern Mk1, CW’s first automatic watch, the guys from Park Street decided to up their dress watch game by launching the C50 Malvern COSC in 2011. The case size was increased from 38 to 39mm, a day/date complication was added and the 400-watch C50 run also happened to be CW’s first 400 chronometer watches (not to be confused with ‘chronograph’ watches, which CW discusses here). Chris and his partners were justifiably proud of their leap into certified COSC chronometer production, a fact reflected by Chris personally autographing the COSC Certificates!
The first 2011 batch of 200 C50 Malvern COSCs had a silver case and the original circular CW logo on its ivory coloured face. The second batch, introduced in 2012, had a gold PVD finish to the case and its white face was adorned with the (then) all new CHR. WARD logo.
The watch for sale here is one of that later versions. However, the 11/2022 date is not a typo, this is a genuine back of the sofa find from CW Towers. It is in absolutely mint condition and has serial number 007 of 200. Fitted with the original black embossed CW genuine alligator strap with its butterfly deployant clasp and QR spring bars, also in pristine condition.
Condition
This is a “new old” watch. As a sofa find in 2022 and remained largely unworn until now, it remains in as-new, unworn condition and still has the protective vinyls on the butterfly buckle. So if you’re on the look out for a bit of CW history - new (old), COSC-certified gold CW dress watch, this could well be the only chance you get!
It is keeping almost perfect time.
Presented in a later style bamboo box with polishing cloth, warranty booklet and card. As an archive find, it does not have the COSC certificate or owner's manual, but the manual can be found online..
