WH649 C3 Malvern Chronograph Mk II LE Purple (12/2015)
WH649 C3 Malvern Chronograph Mk II LE Purple (12/2015)
CHRISTOPHER WARD C3 MALVERN MkII CHRONOGRAPH PURPLE
Introduction
The C3 Malvern Chronograph was released along with the C5 Malvern Automatic as one of Christopher Ward's first two watches in June 2005. The Mk 1 version is a 40mm tri-compax quartz chronograph with a date window at 4:00, marked by an arrow, and applied Arabic indices for the other hours. The three-level dial has subdials for running seconds at 2:00, elapsed 1/10 seconds at 6:00 and a 30-minute chronograph register at 10:00
Techically and functionally the same as the Mk 1, the C3 Malvern Chronograph Mk II was introduced in July 2012. The key developments are stylistic: a reduction of the case diameter to 39mm; a reduction of the lug width to 18mm, and a reworked one-piece galvanic dial. It also introduced some new colours.
The C3 Malvern Chronograph Mark II LE Purple is a version of the C3 Mk II released in June 2015 as one of two limited editions of 100 pieces (the other being green). The proximity of the launch to the annual Wimbledon Championships may well point to the inspiration for these editions!
It was retired in December 2015 - the date of this watch, one of the last ones released. It is number 89 of 100.
Warranty
It comes with a three month Ward Hoard warranty.
Condition
It is in good used condition - the polished bezel does tend to pick up microscratches, but this is one of the better ones that I’ve seen.
Offered with its original box, polishing cloth, covering letter and owner’s book with Certificate of Authenticity.
Strap options
The 18mm strap is in very good condition. It has a couple of extra holes punched in case your wrist is small.
I’ll offer a discount of £40 if you don’t want the strap. I’m afraid that I don’t have any alternative CW straps or after market options.
