CHRISTOPHER WARD C65 TRIDENT BRONZE SH21 LIMITED EDITION
It’s not hard to tell I’m a fan of pretty much anything with a Christopher Ward logo. I know quite a lot about them and can usually highlight something special about even the blandest of models - if there is such a thing… but every now and then, Christopher Ward creates a watch that really smashes it out of the park and doesn’t really need any intimate knowledge in order to big it up - and this C65 Trident Bronze SH21 is one of them.
It arrived toward the end of 2018 at a cost of £1,850 and was the flagship model of CW’s retro dive range. All 150 pieces were sold out within a matter of months, so the latest you’ll usually find would be March 2019. Its 41mm case sits perfectly on pretty much any size wrist and its bronze case and fine metallic blue face are captivating to look at.
It’s powered by a hand-wound version of CW’s epic, COSC certified, 120 hour reserve, SH21 movement. Thanks to the lack of automatic winding rotor it sits at a relatively slim 12.5mm tall.
This particular watch dates from January 2020, making it by far the youngest one I’ve seen and potentially the last one CW ever sold. The transferrable movement warranty is valid to January 2025. These don’t come up very often, so if you’re on the lookout for a very special Christopher Ward, then this is a great chance to get one.
Condition:
Having a bronze case and being a used watch, means it’s developed its own unique patina over the last year or so. If you’d rather bring it back to its original brighter raw bronze finish there are various guides on the web for how that can be achieved. Looking past the patina, I can’t find see any marks or blemishes to report, but being a used watch, there may be some under magnified inspection.
It’s fitted with an original and brand new canvas webbing strap. If the blue canvas isn’t your thing, I also have the brown leather option strap which I can switch it to for the same cost.
It comes in the current CW bamboo case and includes the unused polishing cloth, COSC Certificate, warranty card and a covering letter explaining no user books were available at the time of sale (because it was a retired model) and directing you to the PDF version mentioned below.
