Christopher Ward C60 Trident Bronze Pro 600 38mm

Here we have the original and first bronze C60 Trident.

This model is no longer available from Christopher Ward, having been replaced by the Mk3 model in mid 2020. How do the Mk2 and Mk3 differ?

• Size: the Mk2 was available in 38mm and 43mm, the Mk3 is 40mm.

• Face: on the Mk2 it’s a flat/matte navy blue, whereas the Mk3 has a lighter, distressed look.

• Case: as well as the different size, the case design on the Mk3 gives it a slimmer look compared to the more chunky looking Mk2.

• Hands: the Mk2 has quite traditional style hands, but the Mk3 has more plain/modern hands.

• Price: The Mk2 used to sell at £800. The Mk3 costs £905 (available here)

This watch was sold by CW in July 2020, making it one of the last Bronze Mk2 C60s they sold. The (transferable) movement warranty is valid until July 2024 (or July 2025 if serviced by CW between 36-48 months old - if the watch isn’t a daily wearer, I would personally skip this service and wait until more like 8-10 years old).

With CW no longer making 38mm bronze C60s, this will be one of the very last ‘new’ examples in existence - it’s the last new one I have and I don’t expect I’ll see any more new ones.

Condition

It’s in brand new, unworn condition, only having come out of its protective vinyl wrapping for the photographs in this listing. There’s a small fingerprint (not mine!) on the case, presumably from when it was originally wrapped - easily removed if you want a bright bronze look all over.

As it’s coming up for two years old, it’s just starting to develop the initial signs of a patina in places (and the tang buckle is certainly darker). If you like the patina look, it just needs touching, wearing and exposing to air and moisture. If you like the bright, raw bronze look, that can be brought back with a quick soda/lemon juice clean (no shortage of guides on the web).

On the timegrapher it’s keeping perfect time - can’t ask for better than that!
